CORN HOLLOW, A Journey of Sorrow and Triumph is my first book.
The novel, CORN HOLLOW, A Journey of Sorrow and Triumph, is a historical fiction, now a 2nd Edition, is presented by the author, LaVerne McLeod. She does this in an interactive author performance preceded by a lecture and ending with more audience remarks and comments. These are in-person presentations to groups and organizations.
The novel depicts African American history in America and a Southern family during the rise of the Civil Rights Movement of that era. Senior citizens have taken pride in acknowledging that era in history as well as other adults. Presentations are interactive, allowing for audience participation. Corn Hollow presentations are portrayed through the eyes of a young girl, her mother and a bus driver. The novel is recommended for adult reading. Even though the cover shows the young girls on it, parental discretion is advised. The presentation however is entertaining and educational told from a historical perspective.
Learning about African American experiences can sometimes expose injustices. For this presentation, this is done in a compassionate manner from a child’s voice as children have raw and fresh perspectives. This book is recommended for young adult and adult readers.
The author, LaVerne McLeod, loves giving dramatic presentations that promotes empathy. Her mission: ‘To help reduce racism/discriminations and help reduce greenhouse gases in the atmosphere. The author is available for booking book presentations. Contact: info@lavernemcleod.com
